ERROR SQL server Name Hostname in sys.servers does not match with the SQL server name

I will be sharing details about while configure new build getting error which was causing to complete CM Current branch installation.

Issue reported:

ERROR SQL server Name Hostname in sys.servers does not match with the SQL server name.


ConfigMgrSetup.log

INFO: Getting SQL’s server name from sys.servers on ABC.DEMO.COM.             

Configuration Manager Setup        12/28/2018 3:19:44 PM     7604 (0x1DB4)

ERROR: SQL server’s Name ‘[ABC]’ in sys.servers does not match with the SQL server name ‘[ABC]’ specified during setup.

Please rename the SQL server name using sp_dropserver and sp_addserver and rerun setup. Configuration Manager Setup

ERROR: The SQL Server name verification with Name in sys.servers failed, exiting Configuration Manager setup.

Not recovery mode or not top level site. Skip restoring client piloting packages.

Solution :

Normally above error will report once you have rename server Hostname after SQL installation.

Point 1: Based on above error verified Hostname of the server which was before rename.

Point 2: Uninstall all sql entries from control panel

Point 3: Replace old server entry to new in all the registry where it was create

Point 4: Reboot and reinstall SQL server with require configurations

Point 5: Start fresh CM installation and it was successfully completed.
